10/05/06 – Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge Annual Meeting

The annual Friends Group meeting was held October 5, 2006, at the new Environmental Education and Recreation Area.  The event was well attended by Friends Group officers and members, refuge staff, Marshall County Judge Executive Mike Miller, Senator Mitch McConnell’s local representative Marti Wiles, and a host of individuals campaigning for local offices.  The meeting coincided with the stocking of fish provided by J.M. Malone and Sons, Incorporated of Lonoke, Arkansas.  Soft drinks, farm-raised catfish, hush puppies, baked beans, and cole slaw were served.  The day was overcast, cool, and windy but nearly 40 people showed up for the event which was covered by the Benton, Kentucky newspaper, The Tribune-Courier.
